Juanma is Chief Technology Officer at Trogenix.

Previously, he was Senior Director of Product R&D at Asklepios Biopharmaceutical (AskBio) leading multiple early discovery programs and contributing to the continuous expansion of the core platform technology to improve safety and efficacy of new gene therapy products.

Prior to that, he was Head of Cell and Gene Therapy at Synpromics where he led a team designing synthetic promoters and expression cassettes for cell and gene therapy applications contributing to the continuous improvement of the promoter design pipeline.

Dr Iglesias holds a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Universidad de Oviedo in Spain, with a focus in Molecular Evolution.

As a postdoc he transitioned to cancer biology, first studying basic mechanisms of susceptibility and resistance to apoptosis and chemotherapy (Departamento de Bioquímica y Biología Molecular, Universidad de Oviedo) and then focused on breast cancer and mammary gland development (Division of Cancer Sciences and Molecular Pathology, University of Glasgow, United Kingdom) and characterisation of breast cancer stem cells (Regulation of Cell Growth Laboratory, Inbiomed, Spain).
